Day 1. Saturday August 31st. Arrive in San Sebastian. Settle into the hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy the city-wide celebration of the Basques paying homage to the rebuilding of San Sebastian after it was destroyed during the Napoleonic Wars over two-hundred years ago.
Day 2.Sunday September 1st. Watch the local rowing races in San Sebastian.
Day 3. Monday September 2nd. Guided morning hike on Mount Ulia. Lunch. Guided visit around Pasaia.
Day 4.Tuesday September 3rd. Row/Sail inside the bay aboard the Basque fishing boat, a Trainerua, AMERIKETATIK. Lunch. Tour the boat building school ALBOALA. Talk with Boatbuilder and founder of ALBOALA, Xabi Agote.
Day 5.Wednesday September 4th. Row/Sail inside the bay aboard the Basque built Bantry Bay gig, or the Trainerua. Lunch. Guided tour of San Sebastian (optional on bikes). Visit the cider museum. Dinner at a cider house.
Day 6.Thursday September 5th. Row/Sail from Pasaia to Errenteria and back to Pasaia. Lunch. Hands-on boatbuilding in Alboala.
Day 7. Friday September 6th. Personal time. Lunch on your own. Meet back up in the afternoon for a final row/sail.
Day 8. Saturday September 7th. Departure in the morning.
*Our ability to get on the water will be ultimately dictated by the weather conditions and sea state, and deemed safe or not by our trip leader and vessel owners. Thank you for your flexibility and bringing a spirit of adventure! No prior experience rowing or sailing necessary.
