THE TRADITIONAL BOATS OF IRELAND
Itinerary*:
Day 1. Thursday May 21st. Meet at the Cork train station (Kent) at 3pm. Drive to Baltimore. Settle into our inn in the center of Baltimore. There are frequent flights to Cork and to Dublin from the US. There is a high speed train from Dublin to Cork (Dublin Heuston station to Cork Kent) station.
Day 2. Friday May 22nd. Enjoy the first day of Baltimore Maritime Festival. Attend a festival talk at the Baltimore castle.
Day 3. Saturday May 23rd. Observe the Currach races. Get on the water in one or more of the festival boats. Walk to the Baltimore Beacon.
Day 4. Sunday May 24th. Last day of the Baltimore Maritime Festival. Get on the water in one or more of the festival boats. Attend the Festival Awards dinner.
Day 5. Monday May 25th. Visit local boat yards, and/or go for a dip a nearby beautiful lake. Enjoy other local scenic explorations. Drive back to Cork in afternoon (the time can be somewhat flexible depending on your travel needs).
*Our ability to get on the water will be ultimately dictated by the weather conditions and sea state, and deemed safe or not by our trip leader and vessel owners. Thank you for your flexibility and bringing a spirit of adventure!
